Clean Energy Zooms Ahead

Portland-based Clean Edge Inc. is on the lookout for everything green.

The clean-tech research firm publishes an annual report titled “Clean Energy Trends”, and the 2008 edition – released March 11 – reported that worldwide revenue from wind energy, biofuels, solar photovoltaics and fuel cells reached $77.3 billion in 2007, a 40 percent increase from $55 billion a year earlier.

Impressive? Yes. More impressive: Clean Edge predicted that revenue among the four clean-energy sectors will increase by more than threefold by 2017 to $254.5 billion. The report is available at http://www.cleanedge.com/reports/reports-trends2008.php.
