In fact, Portland has the largest concentration of microbreweries of any city in the world. And production of barley and hops is big business in the region.

Each July, about 50,000 beer lovers flock to the Portland waterfront to sample the offerings at the Oregon Brewers Festival. It is the largest gathering of craft brewers in North America, and the 20th annual edition will take place July 26-29, 2007.
