The Willamette Valley is especially fertile, so it makes sense that it is home to dozens of farmers’ markets operating from April through October.

Portland boasts nine markets, while others are in nearby Beaverton, Canby, Estacada, Forest Grove, Gresham, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego and Milwaukie.

The valley produces a wide variety of vegetables and fruit – and hazelnuts (known locally as filberts), too.
