Gerding Theater Is Environmentally Friendly Venue

The world’s greenest theater is in Portland.
The historic Gerding Theater is housed in the Portland Armory, which was constructed in 1891. The brick building had different occupants over the years, with the Portland National Guard vacating in 1968.
After years of being abandoned, the building became the Gerding and home to the Portland Center Stage theatrical troupe.
Extensive renovations earned a platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating from the U.S. Green Building Council, making the Gerding Theater the only arts venue in the country with that distinction.
